Close to Derby’s Heart – the RTC Park
Derby’s RTC Business Park is the place that more than 30 enterprises, laboratories and manufacturers work from. It’s become something of a powerhouse to the city’s thriving economy, with more than 1,100 workers heading to its 28 acres of grounds every day to get busy.
RTC is easy to get to; just nine miles away from the M1 and with efficient road connections, as well as good proximity to Derby’s train station, the city centre and Pride Park. The park also will benefit from a refurbishment programme started in late 2014.
The 430,000 square feet of workspace at RTC is divided up into a mix of low-rise offices, lab buildings and industrial units to rent, some of which have rail connections. The complex has plenty of parking space – well above the UK’s average provision – and there’s also 24-hour manned security on hand to control site access and parking.
For businesses needing laboratory or workshop-style offices, there’s Faraday House and Hartley House, two-storey buildings located on a 2.2-acre site opposite RTC’s main campus. Together these two buildings offer more than 27,000 square feet of space, which can be customised to suit the needs of new tenants.
Manufacturing-based businesses can choose from a range of specialised buildings, with different eaves heights, add-on offices, crane and pit facilities and mezzanine storage options.
Once a business moves into a building it can take advantage of the many services included in the lease, like manned security, mechanical and electrical maintenance, insurance and subsidised utilities like heating and electricity.
For office-based businesses, there are 260,000 square feet of space to fill! Most of the office space to rent is in three-storey blocks set in landscaped gardens. Each floor offers between 6,000 and 25,000 square feet of office-ready space to companies. The complex even offers smaller (between 100 and 450 square feet) office spaces to suit the smaller budgets of incubator businesses. There’s plenty of natural light to help workers stay focused and happy and tenants can choose between open-plan or cellular premises. Each block has a manned reception on the ground floor and lifts to all floors.
The park’s management team can arrange a meeting and conference rooms, as well as to arrange the catering for these events. There’s also a large canteen at the heart of the park for those all-important cooked breakfasts and lunches. For the busiest workers, there’s a handy trolley service that makes its rounds twice a day, so no-one will go hungry!
